Is technology the solution to build a future for mankind and the planet? Scientists, technicians and designers already believe so. Patent by patent, design by design they refuse to go along with a doomsday scenario. On the contrary, they are proposing many futuristic solutions that could possibly solve our environmental problems.

One of the most acute environmental problems at the moment is air pollution. Many technological developments are therefore aimed at purifying air, including in the interior.Luxury hotels such as Four Seasons and The Oberoi also mention air purity in their marketing. In short: clean air is the new black.

In interior design all this is visible in a focus on innovative materials with a low impact, often with shapes, textures and colours inspired by fauna and flora. Where nature and technology merge, we get a hyper-realistic aesthetic. This results in a palette of dreamy pastel shades, coupled with a floral red and a dark cyan. Glossy polished steel serves as a counterbalance to the nostalgic side of the pastels and at the same time symbolises technology.
